THIS WEEK'S SCOUT REPORT

V'S SCOUT REPORT
FROM THE FIELD

V has been busy. This week's scout report includes a full Saturday itinerary if you want it — three solid free options that stack into one of the better local days Orlando has offered in a while. Here's the breakdown.

V's Feature Pick

🎶 MAYOR'S JAZZ IN THE PARK

A gospel concert in Germany. A jazz player went to the stage and played the saxophone. He closed his eyes during his performance, enjoyed playing for the audience.

When: Saturday, March 7, 12–6 PM |
Where: Cypress Grove Park, 290 Holden Ave, Orlando |
Cost: FREE

Six hours of live jazz anchored by a serious lineup — Jones High School Community Band, Naomi Joy Music, The Yo Cats, Divas of Jazz, and headliner Dayve Stewart, with Yvonne Loggins-Coleman of WUCF 89.9 FM on the mic.

Fourteen years in, this event runs like a well-staffed banquet: food trucks on site, organizers who tell you to bring lawn chairs and a picnic (which means they've actually thought it through).
The park is large enough that 1,000+ attendees don't feel crushing — find your blanket spot away from the main stage if you need breathing room.

Arrive by 11:30 AM; street parking on Holden Ave fills by 1 PM.

*Two things to know going in: no pets, no alcohol.

V-APPROVED PICKS

🎶 CASSELBERRY SPRING JAZZ & ART FEST

When: Saturday, March 7, 8 AM–1 PM |

Where: 95 Triplet Lake Drive Casselberry, FL 32707

Cost: FREE

Body: Marion Meadows and Steve Oliver headline — both nationally charting smooth jazz artists. Lakeside, outdoor, spacious. Bring blanket or chairs. Four art exhibits across City Hall and Arts Center. Dog policy unconfirmed — check before you go. One honest logistics note: parking fills fast at City Hall.

Arrive early or budget around $20 for paid lots nearby — still cheaper than a concert ticket anywhere else.

🐕 TPD Night Market + Art After Dark

When: Saturday, March 7, 8 AM–1 PM | Where: Central Park West Meadow, corner of New York Ave & Morse Blvd, Winter Park |
Cost: FREE

Two weeknight options, each with their own night. Thursday March 5 — TPD Night Market at Thornton Park, local makers, food trucks, dogs welcome. Friday March 6 — Art After Dark Lake Nona under The Beacon, 40+ local makers, dogs on leash welcome, free garage parking. Or do both — low-pressure browsable evenings that don't require you to be "on."

🐕 WEEKEND MARKETS

When: Sat Mar 7 + Sun Mar 8|

Where: Winter Park + Downtown + Maitland|

Cost: FREE

Three dog-friendly market options this weekend. Winter Park Farmers' Market Saturday 8 AM (arrive early, parking is tight).
Lake Eola Farmers' Market Sunday 10 AM (vendor sells dog beer — yes really).
Maitland Farmers' Market at Lake Lily Sunday 9 AM for a quieter vibe.

Just stay in the Jazz section for the good music, no need to wander anywhere else.

🎶 VinylFest + Leu Gardens

LOOKING AHEAD — MARCH 14–15

When: Sat–Sun Mar 14–15 |

Where: Icon Park + Leu Gardens

Cost: FREE

Two free options next weekend. VinylFest Orlando at Tin Roof (Sat, free admission, go early before it gets loud).

Leu Gardens Plant Sale all weekend — 50+ growers, free admission. Cold snap caveat: tropical inventory may be limited this year.

LAST CHANCE

🎡 CENTRAL FLORIDA FAIR CLOSES SUNDAY

Ferris-wheel under the evening sky.

114 years in. Live music nightly in the Beer Garden included with admission. This is the final week — Sunday March 8 is your last chance. Skip Saturday afternoon (packed). Weeknight evenings are your best bet. Kids 6 & under free. No dogs.
